My work as a red-nose clown began in the Findhorn Community in my 20s, creating comedic improvised skits to illuminate the overt and covert dynamics present in our collective endeavours. I discovered how much more connected and forgiving we can be when playful truth-telling is included in our wrangling of differing views.

My first round of professional clown training was at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Northern California. I have continued training with a mostly European who’s who of clowns into my 50s.

I was initiated through many years of mostly rural theatre and circus touring in North America and the U.K. One of my most significant immersions in clowning - and in living a vivid life- was during the 15 years I was employed as a therapeutic’Clown Doctor’ in children’s hospitals and hospices throughout Scotland, supporting and empowering children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. I learned from many of the children and their vulnerable families how to access a thread of joy and connectedness in even the most challenging of circumstances.

As Racy the Eco-clown Consultant, I create and perform bespoke, highly improvised and interactive Eco-clown Keynote and Eco-clown wrap up performances at environmental, educational and corporate conferences and events. I also take commissions to create pre-recorded clown pieces for special occasions like birthdays and memorial services.

All of my clown work is anchored in my belief in the power of insightful humour to generate compassion and fuel positive change.
